Prussia
Prussia (pol. Prusy, ger. Preussen)
- land at Baltic Sea, between lower reaches of Neman and Vistula River.
This country was occupied by tribes of pagan Prussians. In XII c. those lands were
conquered by the House of Hospitalers of Saint Mary of The Teutons in
Jerusalem - the Teutonic Order, invited here by Polish duke - Conrad
of Mazovia. This area was the object of constant wars between Poland,
Lithuania and Teutonic Order (which in XVI c. became Prussians). After Second
World War, under the Potsdam agreement, the land was divided between Poland and
Soviet Union. After the fall of Soviet Union, Prussia is now a part of Poland,
Russia (Kalinigrad province - oblast) and Lithuania.
